Quieting for Change
"Be quiet!" said Jesus sternly. "Come out of him!" [Mark 1:25]
It must have been a terrible life for this unknown man who was filled with such doubt and torment. People said of him, "He’s devil-possessed!" What a reputation to have, and he lived up to what people said of him.
Then he wandered into the presence of the Master Teacher. As he listened to Jesus teaching in the synagogue, surrounded by good, religious people, all his doubts and fears erupted. "Are you here to make trouble for us?" he cried out. But Jesus spoke the words that calmed his troubled spirit, released him from his past, and changed his life.
Those same words will work for us today. First, "Be quiet!" Then, in that quiet moment, let go of every negative thought and troubling fear. You, too, can be free!
I quietly release my fears, my frustrations and failures. I reach out to embrace Truth as the Spirit fills me with faith, confidence and love.
